What do you build? We design and build decks, pergolas, arbors, screened porches, covered patios, and gazebos as well as outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, fire pits, stone patios and walkways, water features and many other custom masonry projects.
What types of materials does Crossroad's build with? We work with many different types of materials including Cedar, Redwood, Angel's Heart, Ipe, Massaranduba, Treated lumber, and low-maintenance composites. Price and use of material typically drive the material selection and help determine which product is right for each project.
What type of designs do you have to choose from? We design and build each project customized for each customer. Our design will take into account your design ideas, budget, materials and physical property to create a plan to meet your expectations.
Are you insured? Yes, we're insured, with $2 million of general liability coverage.
What type of warranty do you provide? We provide a 12 month warranty on all our work which covers against defects in materials and workmanship. All warranties provided by the manufacturer are passed through directly to you the homeowner.
What can I expect to pay for my new deck? Prices for decks depend on a number of different variables including location, material, size, height, and more. A basic rule of thumb is that using Cedar as a base line you can expect to pay about 20% more for a hardwood deck or composite option.
Do you install built-in lighting in your decks? Yes, we can install a number of different low voltage lighting options to highlight various aspects of your deck including the stairs, rails, and bench areas.
Why should I choose to build a composite deck? Composite decks have continued to improve over the years. Composites are made up of a blend of plastics and woods to achieve their final finish and texture. People choose composite decking because it is relatively maintenance free. Composite decking does not need to be stained and sealed like a typical deck and only needs to be washed throughout the year to maintain its original looks. Composites also naturally do not rot or suffer from damage from insects.
Why should I choose to build a natural wood deck? There are a number of excellent wood product options for consumers in the Central Texas area to build a beautiful and long lasting, low maintenance deck. Ipe, Massaranduba, and Angel's heart are three hard wood options that are extremely beautiful and have excellent natural characteristics. If left untreated these materials age well and will provide a solid deck for a very long time. If stained and sealed regularly these woods maintain a rich and elegant look that cannot be matched by any products currently on the market. Not only do these woods look great but they have excellent fire and insect resistant properties as well.

Deck vs. Stone patio? A deck’s advantage is the ability to build up from 1ft to several feet, giving you a new living space. A deck is less reflective and allows for more air to flow around the floorboards than a stone patio where heat can reflect and also acts like a heat sink. However, Stone Patio’s have great advantages in its longevity, look/feel of various cuts and allows for shapes that decks cannot achieve. A project using both woodworking and masonry yields the best results. Arched stone planters edging a wood deck is an example of where the two deliver an excellent result. Stone can be used as steps to a lower garden, or give you architectural accents in the form of pillars, walls, and columns. We at crossroads have gained the expertise to use both materials and skill-set to deliver a rich result for your design.
Maintenance concerns? In the past, cedar decks were the norm, where stripping, staining, and routine clean-up is a must. Today we have choices – to lower your maintenance, you have Brazilian hardwoods (about 3X denser than cedar), synthetic lumber such as Ion/Choicedeck/Trex and Stone patio’s are also an alternative. We can show you samples of each option, and let you decide which is better for you. These new choices greatly reduces your maintenance work on your outdoor room.
Don’t know where to start, but you want something better in your back yard? Just because you do not have any particular ideas, we can help you translate your desires and needs into what you are looking for. We not only build beautiful structures, but have experience in designing these spaces with our customers. This helps you and us to ensure the outcome delivers a high level of satisfaction.
What is considered in a design? When we meet with you, we cover your needs, and we also cover things you might not have thought of. When we look over your project, we also cover items like water drainage for planters and under-deck evacuation, high/low voltage lighting/fans, plants/shrubbery, water/gas access for outdoor grills/kitchens, the type of stone used for porosity/weight/surface, sun/shade exposure, grading your lot for the look/feel and drainage in order to achieve the right environment. At times we do a 3D rendering of your space to visualize and plan the new space, which helps reduce change throughout the project by having decisions made early in the planning phase. A clear and well defined design is the best recipe for the success of your project where we have the expertise to deliver this if you choose us to do your project, or not.
